John Poynton AM - Chairman

John is the Chairman of the Investment Committee that reviews and evaluates all potential investments and divestments. John has deep experience both as an Investor and as an Adviser. Over the decades he has successfully established his own businesses as well as being a trusted Adviser to numerous enterprises and entrepreneurs over a distinguished career.

John is a co-founder and Director of Azure Capital Limited.

He is a Director of the Future Fund Board of Guardians, Crown Perth and Orbital Corporation Ltd. John is the Chairman of Council of Christ Church Grammar School and Giving West. He is also a member of Social Ventures Australia.

He has previously served as the Chairman, Deputy Chairman or Non-Executive Director of a number of ASX listed companies, Federal Government boards, education institutions and not-for-profit enterprises.

John is a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia and is a past recipient of a WA Citizen of the Year award in the industry and commerce category.

John holds a Bachelor of Commerce and an honorary Doctor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia.



Chris Weaver - Director

Chris founded Warrington Property in 2008 and has over 16 years’ experience in commercial property in both Australia and the United Kingdom. Chris’ depth of knowledge in property has been developed through roles in valuation; sales and leasing; asset, property and development management; and establishment of investment syndicates and trusts.

With a philosophy of hands on asset management, Chris established Warrington Property to include a licensed real estate property management company with a portfolio of office, industrial and retail properties under management with a combined value of over A$255.0 million, and collecting gross rent of approximately A$30.0 million per annum. This included the origination of $155.0 m of acquisitions, taking responsibility for the asset management of numerous properties across the portfolio which has included

- Directly negotiating over 30 new leases and 15 lease renewals across the portfolio
- Refurbishment or development of 49,400 sq m of office and industrial space
- Managing A$26.9 million of capital expenditure

Chris holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Property) from Curtin University of Technology. He is a Licensed Valuer, Associate Member of the Australian Property Institute and is a Licensed Real Estate Agent and Triennial Certificate Holder.



David Zimmermann - Director

David joined Warrington Property in 2013 and has 17 years of experience in real estate investment, asset management and finance in Australia and the United Kingdom. Before joining Warrington he was a Partner at Brockton Capital LLP, a UK focused Private Equity Real Estate Manager based in London with c.$1.27 billion of institutional capital under management across two funds with gross asset under management of $2.44 billion.

Whilst at Brockton, David was responsible for origination and management of investments across office, retail, industrial and leisure sectors as well as asset backed businesses totaling $460 million. He was also a member of the Brockton Capital Fund II Investment Committee. David has been involved in realisations averaging 31.9% IRR on assets acquired between 2006 – 2011.

During his nine years in London he also worked at Canary Wharf Group plc, the largest developer of commercial space in London with over 16.0 million sq ft of Grade A offices and over 200 shops, bars and restaurants. During his time at Canary Wharf, he was involved in numerous projects including the successful bid for the 6.5 million sq ft mixed use Wood Wharf project with an end value in excess of $3.9 billion; the sale of over $1.9 billion of assets; the restructuring of the group’s c.$4.9 billion securitisation; and other group and parent company refinancing of c. $3.1 billion.

David holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and has a graduate diploma in Applied Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia of which he is a Fellow.


Oliver Smith - Non Executive Director

Oliver joined the Investment Committee in 2013 and became a Non Executive Director in 2016. Oliver brings over 26 years experience as an international real estate investment professional to the group. He has invested in all major asset classes across his career from office, industrial, retail, residential, healthcare, leisure and asset backed operating businesses. Oliver assists with the firms’ Global Client Relationships and Risk Management.

Oliver is also a Partner of Mansford Real Estate LLP, a Private European multi-strategy real estate investment firm owned and controlled by its management. Mansford was formed in 1995. Since inception, along with investment partners, Mansford has invested directly in income producing properties, real estate development projects, indirect investments and managed structured transactions totalling circa £1.9 billion. Mansford invests only where they can add value and have delivered consistently outperforming returns since inception. This is demonstrated across 41 exited transactions.

Prior to founding Mansford Oliver was Funding Director for Arlington Securities with responsibility for Arlington’s investment sales, development funding, financing and joint venture negotiations as well as its operations in continental Europe and the US. Prior to Arlington Oliver was employed by Goldman Sachs within their Real Estate Investment Banking Group. Oliver holds a BA in Law from Trinity College, Cambridge.



Mathew Fisher - Director Property Management

Mathew Fisher is a property manager with over 13 years’ experience in the management of commercial, retail and industrial properties. He has worked with Chris Weaver and Robert Wiese at different companies for over eight years.

Mathew holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Property and Finance) from Curtin University of Technology, is a Licensed Real Estate Agent, a Triennial Certificate Holder and has undertaken officer training at the Royal Military College of Australia.

Prior to joining the company, Mathew was the head of property management for a private investment firm, working closely with Chris Weaver and Peter Folland in the management of numerous syndicated commercial and industrial properties now managed by Warrington Property. Mathew has also worked as a property manager for NYSE listed global real estate services firm, Jones Lang LaSalle.



Robert Wiese - Director Project Management

Robert Wiese is a project and development manager with over 11 years’ experience in the management of property development and construction projects, including both land subdivision and built form projects. He has worked with Chris Weaver and Mathew Fisher at different companies for over eight years.

Robert has a Bachelor of Applied Science (majoring in Construction Management & Economics) with honours from Curtin University of Technology.

He was a Senior Project Manager with Peet Ltd, a listed Australian land developer, on large scale land subdivisions. Prior to joining the company, Robert worked as Commercial Manager for listed UK based property developer, Berkeley Group PLC in London.



Peter Folland - Chief Financial Officer

Peter is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years of experience. For over 11 years he has been involved with the establishment and financial management of property syndicates and trusts and has acted as both a Trustee Director or Co-Syndicate Manager working with Chris Weaver for over nine years.

Until recently he was a partner of national accounting firm, Grant Thornton Australia Ltd, in the area of Privately Held Business. In that role he was responsible for the distribution of property related investments through the Grant Thornton Perth client base, and ongoing financial management of property syndicates and trusts.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Business from Western Australia Institute of Technology (now Curtin University of Technology) and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia.
